Homeward is a transformative community dance and storytelling performance that brings together artists and community members to explore the profound themes of migration, identity, belonging, and the meaning of “home.” Blending contemporary, modern, ballet, African diasporic, and classical South Asian dance traditions, Homeward invites audiences into a visceral and moving reflection on how history, culture, and personal experience shape who we are.

Choreographed by Kevin Iega Jeff and Pranita Nayar, this work explores the shared humanity across diverse migration stories, with narration by Shanta Nurullah that connects the struggles and triumphs of earlier generations to those of today’s youth. Developed over six months in collaboration with artists and community partners, the production culminated in performances at the Reva and David Logan Center and Madden Theatre as part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series.
